Spirometry
Spirometry is the most common type of lung function and breathing test. This test measures how much air a patient can breathe in and out, and how easily and quickly they can exhale air from their lungs. Spirometry tests are used to diagnose conditions such as COPD, asthma and pulmonary fibrosis. It is also used before surgery to assess the risk of complications. Spirometry is also useful for monitoring the progress of the disease and can help determine whether treatment is working.
The test uses a spirometer with a tube attached to measure the speed and volume of air exhaled. There are desktop and portable, PC-connected and wireless models. Some models include a pulse oximeter so that several tests can be performed with the same device.
Our webshop also offers spirometers for home and clinical use, as well as peak flow meters.
