Myocardial Troponin I (cTnI) is a protein of 22.5 kDa molecular weight found in the myocardium. Troponin I is a subunit of the three-part complex Troponin I, Troponin T and Troponin C. Together with tropomyosin, this structural complex is the major regulator of actomyosin calcium-sensitive ATPase activity in cardiac and striated muscle. Troponin I is released and released into the blood 4-6 hours after the onset of pain due to myocardial injury.
