Normal use:
Use only in unconscious, non-breathing patients. The main use is to perform asynchronous mode transthoracic defibrillation. The choice of whether a shock is required is made automatically by the device. The operator is guided by verbal instructions and clear written or visual information. The device is connected to the patient by means of bonded electrodes after switching on. The device then performs an automatic rhythm analysis. Only a rhythm detected by the device as an atrial tremor (=requiring shock) triggers a suggestion for a high-energy shock treatment. All other rhythms are classified as non-shock processes. The time from analysis to shock delivery is less than 30 s. The energy levels of the first, second and third shocks are defined by the maximum prescribed current values of 20 A, 25 A and 30 A and the capacitor voltage depending on the patient impedance, respectively.
