The application of AED and defibrillator electrodes to the torso can be practiced on the model. The chest resistance can be adjusted.
Life-like airway resistance is experienced, and air is expelled through the mouth and nose. The simulator's display shows the instructor the volume of air being blown (in litres) and the depth of chest compressions (in mm). It also provides a warning of incorrect hand positioning for compressions and stomach distension. Carotid pulse can be palpated during chest compressions and simulated with a manual pulse bellows.
The new generation of Ambu models now use the browser/web based Manikin Management Module software instead of the previous software which required installation. The module is based on scenario-based training and is designed for wireless management, documentation and observation of exercises. The module provides immediate feedback on the parameters of the training. The central interface of the Manikin Management Module provides all the information and data related to the training, such as compression depth, correct hand position, ventilation volume, gastric inflation. The Manikin Management Module can be connected from any desktop computer, tablet or smartphone. (Provided that the device supports NFC.)
