The Clostridium difficile Toxin A and Toxin B Combination Test Plate is a rapid immunochromatographic immunoassay method for the qualitative detection of Clostridium difficile Toxin A and Toxin B antigens in human faecal samples.
Conclusion:
Clostridium difficile is an anaerobic bacterium, which exerts pathogenic effects in the normal flora of the small intestine, especially after antibiotic treatment. Toxigenic strains of Clostridium difficile cause infection and diarrhoea and pseudomembranous colitis as side effects of antibiotics, which can potentially lead to death.
The disease is caused by two toxins, C. difficile A (a tissue-disrupting enterotoxin) and Toxin B (a cytotoxin)
Some strains produce both toxins (A+B), some only Toxin B. Potentially, a third (binary) toxin may be involved in pathogenicity.
Principle:
Clostridium difficile Toxin A and Toxin B Combined test sheet can be used to isolate two antigens (Toxin A and Toxin B) on one test sheet with two test lanes separately in parallel.
Specific testing for C. difficile Toxin A
The membrane anti-C. diff. Toxin A antibody and anti-C diff. Toxin A antibody were included in the test strip. During the run, the sample reacts with the coated particles with anti-C diff. Toxin A antibody. The mixture flows through the chromatography capillaries of the membrane and reacts with anti-C. diff Toxin A on the membrane and results in a coloured band. The appearance of a colour band in the test line indicates a positive result, its absence indicates a negative result. The appearance of a band on the control line indicates that the test was performed correctly.
